“Smart” Dream Jacket for Urban Cyclists
Technology is literally woven into the fabric. Special yarn is used - combining thin, metallic alloys with natural and synthetic yarns making it strong enough to be woven on an industrial loom. The jacket has a smart tag, which allows you to easily tap or swipe it in order to give commands while you are on the move.

The electronics that are put into the garment are as small as a mere button on a jacket, and yet they can capture touch interactions and gestures that can be inferred using machine-learning algorithms.
Best explained by Project Jacquard: "Captured touch and gesture data is wirelessly transmitted to mobile phones or other devices to control a wide range of functions, connecting the user to online services, apps, or phone features.
LEDs, haptics, and other embedded outputs provide feedback to the user, seamlessly connecting them to the digital world."
The most exciting part of all this for designers, is that this new technology allows them to design and create new functions without having to learn about electronics. It opens up a whole new world for how we will perceive and interact with even our own clothing in the future. It is truly creating a brand new type of canvas for designers to pioneer their creativity.
